Mission of the Department

The goal of our department is to help students succeed as professionals in the field of leisure and recreation service. Our students will be well prepared as one of the followings: sports instructor, fitness instructor, personal trainer, recreation director, outdoor activity planner, massage therapist, flora landscape worker, and elderly people health related instructor.

Features of the Department

Diverse Curriculum Design

We offer diverse course options to meet individual student's career planning. There are two major course categories (leisure and recreation) with both theory and practice focuses. Example courses are Introduction of Sports and Health, Management of Leisure and Recreation, Sports Injury Prevention, Hiking, Biking, Swimming, Snorkeling, Surfing, Diving, Canoeing, Experiential Learning, Sport Massage, etc.

Off-campus Practicum

To establish the integration of theory and practice, students are required to have internships at the third year of the college. Our department cooperates with famous domestic and foreign enterprises such as Sports Center of Taipei City, Leofoo Tourism Group, Sabang Beach Snorkeling Club in the Philippines, and hotels in Singapore etc., which provide excellent training environments.

Obtaining Professional Certificates

We help students build the initial rungs of their career ladders through skill proficiency. Students of our department are trained and encouraged to obtain certificates such as Diving Instructor Certificate, Swimming Coach Certificate, Lifeguard Certificate, Bike Tour Leader Certificate, Physical Fitness Activities Instructor Certificate.
